St. Margaret's has
two hospice buildings in Taunton and Yeovil providing excellent
care for the terminally ill (not just cancer), but this
is only a small part of the work that they do. Many people
are cared for and helped in their own homes by an expert
team of palliative care nurses or given advice by nurses
provided by the hospice at Yeovil District Hospital and
Musgrove Park
Recently a new 'hospice at home' service
has been started to provide care and support for the last
two weeks of life for those who would rather remain in
their own home. Help and support are provided for relatives.
Training courses are run for health care professionals.
For
more details see www.somerset-hospice.org.uk or
look at the display in Martock Library window (first 2
weeks
in January).
All care offered is of the highest possible standard, and
is free for all who need it – the hospice is a charity and
has to raise the money to provide these services.
Martock (& District) Support Group
I
would like to form at group to help with fund-raising.
Would you like to help?
I envisage having a list of people who would indicate what
sort of things they would like to help with e.g. Small
local events in Martock such as coffee mornings, Open Gardens
etc;
being available to help with big events organised by the
St Margaret's Fund-raising Dept. ; helping with collections
at supermarkets etc.
If you volunteer you will always be
able to say 'No' if it is not convenient, but I urge you
to consider doing this – it can be fun, as well as supporting
a very worthwhile cause.
