Welcome to the Acorns Pre-School (Bower Hinton). We are based at the United Reformed Church Hall in Bower Hinton (opposite the Post Office).

We are a committee run pre-school open to children from 2 years old up to school age. Sessions are run from 9.30 – 12.00. In the summer term an afternoon session is run for those children who will be going to school the following September.

Outside the hall is a safe, secure, grass play area which the children use every day. They are also taken on walks on the footpaths around Bower Hinton.

The staff at Acorns are, Kelly Sutton and Louise Hebditch who are DPP qualified joint supervisors, plus Kate Hodgson and Helen Farquhar who are CPP qualified assistants. All staff also hold food hygiene and first aid certificates and between them have many years experience working in pre-school. If you are interested in your child starting at Acorns they would be more than happy to talk to you at the end of any session.

Acorns receive an “outstanding” OFSTED report.

Following a snap Ofsted inspection on12/12/05 our Nursery Education was classed as outstanding and our Nursery Care classed as good with one of the three aspects of Care classed as outstanding. To view a report which could hardly be more glowing, please follow the link above.

Acorns is a committee run pre-school which means that we parents own, run and manage the group. This means that apart from seeing that all the staff’s needs are met we also raise money to help provide equipment and resources for pre-school.

This does take a little effort on our part but it is rewarding as it is all our children that benefit and we do keep our meetings down to around two per term.
